MADISON, N.J., June 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Quest Diagnostics (NYSE: DGX) and Inovalon (NASDAQ: INOV) today announced that Data Diagnostics™, a point-of-care health analytics technology, has won two IT World Awards®. The solution earned a gold medal in the IT Products and Services for Healthcare category and a bronze medal for New Products and Services. Other companies to win awards in the New Products and Services category include Dell and Samsung. The Network Products Guide's IT World Awards are provided annually to honor achievement in all facets of the information technology industry.
Data Diagnostics is a suite of patient-specific analytical reports (or "diagnostics") that physicians order within their existing workflow at the point of care. Reports are delivered to physicians, often within seconds, through Quest's Care360® lab ordering and connectivity platform and nearly 600 interconnected EHR platforms. Data Diagnostics reports identify gaps in care to enhance the patient encounter and improve clinical quality outcomes, utilization efficiency and financial performance critical to payers, health systems, ACOs and patients.
Data Diagnostics reports are generated using Inovalon's large-scale data interconnectivity and big data analytical platform. Analysis is performed in real time on data from the participating organization as well as data from Quest's 20 billion clinical laboratory test results and Inovalon's clinical datasets on more than 132 million patients, two of the world's largest datasets of clinical, claims, quality and laboratory data. As a result, the physician is able to take actions during the consult based on insights generated from highly comprehensive, current medical information about the patient within their existing clinical workflow, a functionality that is key to bringing the power of big data to the point of care in real time.
Data Diagnostics is the result of a collaboration formed by Quest Diagnostics and Inovalon to help providers, payers and patients achieve better healthcare outcomes and financial performance under value-based care models.
"Data Diagnostics was designed to help physicians, providers and health plans make the pivotal transition to value-based care," said Lidia L. Fonseca, chief information officer, Quest Diagnostics. "Data Diagnostics can help amplify the programs that health plans and health systems already have in place to manage their populations, and leverage their IT investments and real-time data insights to meet quality and risk requirements starting at the point of care. The result is better patient outcomes and improved financial performance."
"Inovalon is highly focused on delivering innovative technologies for the healthcare industry," said Keith Dunleavy, M.D., CEO of Inovalon. "Data Diagnostics brings the power and benefits of transaction-based processing and advanced analytics to the healthcare ecosystem in real-time, enabling physicians to treat their patients more effectively at the point of care driving meaningful impact. This isn't simply a new approach to managing health data, it's a major paradigm shift that will further the transformation of healthcare as we know it."
Network Products Guide's 11th annual IT World Awards encompasses the world's best in every area of information technology, including products and services, new technologies, executives and management teams, successful deployments, product management and engineering. The awards will be presented June 27, 2016, in San Francisco.
