Quest Diagnostics Increases Share Repurchase Authority by $1 Billion

MADISON, N.J., Jan. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Quest Diagnostics Incorporated (NYSE: DGX), the world's leading provider of diagnostic testing, information and services, announced that its Board of Directors increased the company's share repurchase authorization by $1 billion. This action increases the current share repurchase authorization to $1.1 billion.

During 2011, the company repurchased approximately 17  million shares of common stock for $935 million. The company had 157 million shares outstanding as of December 31, 2011.
