A new mass spectrometry blood test from Quest Diagnostics aims to provide physicians with an easy tool for assessing insulin resistance as an early predictor of future diabetes. The test, called the Cardio IQ Insulin Resistance Panel with Score, has been offered for about two months through Quest and is performed at Quest's Nichols Institute in San Juan Capistrano, California.

The Marin Healthcare District has sold its four outpatient clinical laboratories where blood is drawn for tests to Quest Diagnostics, a publicly-traded company based in Secaucus, New Jersey. The acquisition will double the number of labs Quest operates in Marin to eight. The Marin Healthcare District labs sold are located at 100 A Drake’s Landing, Greenbrae; 5 Bon Air Road, Larkspur; 23 Reed Blvd., Mill Valley; and 75 Rowland Way, Novato. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Doctors, hospitals and medical labs used to be concerned about patients who didn’t have insurance not paying their bills. Now they’re scrambling to get paid by the ones who do have insurance. Even large medical companies with national operations are facing the problem. Quest Diagnostics Inc., the lab-testing giant, said 20 percent of services billed to patients in the third quarter of this year went unpaid, costing the company about $80 million in lost revenue.

It is unclear whether supplementation with vitamin D reduces the risk of cancer or cardiovascular disease, and data from randomized trials are limited. Blood samples were obtained at baseline during the run-in period from all willing participants — 16,956 of the 25,871 persons who underwent randomization (65.5%). Clinical Genomics and Quest Diagnostics today announced a five-year extension to a US supply agreement for the InSure One fecal immunochemical test (FIT). Clinical Genomics manufacturers FIT tests, including InSure One FIT. Quest Diagnostics has completed its previously announced acquisition of the U.S. laboratory services business of England-based Oxford Immunotec Global PLC, the two companies announced Tuesday. Under terms of the deal, Secaucus-based Quest has purchased the business from Oxford, including the T-SPOT TB tuberculosis and Accutix tick disease testing services provided at labs in Tennessee and Massachusetts.

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey today announced it has renewed its laboratory services relationship with Laboratory Corporation of America and added Quest Diagnostics as an in-network provider of such services.

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey will add Quest Diagnostics as an in-network provider of diagnostic information services for its 2.8 million members effective Jan. 1. Quest has more than 300 patient access points in New Jersey and will serve all Horizon members with the exception of managed Medicaid and Dual Eligible Special Needs plan beneficiaries.

Quest Diagnostics launched a direct-to-consumer service that allows users to order and pay for lab tests from home. Dubbed QuestDirect, the online service offers 35 diagnostic test packages covering general health and wellness, men’s and women’s health, and the heart and digestive system, as well as panels for infections or sexually transmitted diseases.

According to a report from the Drug Testing Index, Oregon has a higher percentage of workplace drug tests that are positive for marijuana than any other state in the country. Feeling proud? You're about to feel prouder because this is the third year in a row that Oregon has achieved this honor. According to the Quest index, culled from more than 10 million drug tests administered at workplaces throughout the country, a whopping 4.64 percent of Oregon's workplace drug tests in 2017 were positive for pot. That's up from 2016's 4.5 percent and 2015's 3.43 percent.

Secaucus-based Quest Diagnostics has acquired the outreach laboratory services operations of Marin General Hospital, it announced Thursday. The deal, Quest said, will enhance its delivery of diagnostic information services, like an enhanced test menu, to communities in Marin County, California.

Quest Diagnostics this week announced it is acquiring the outreach laboratory services of Marin General Hospital located in Greenbrae, California. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter. No other details were disclosed.
