As more states legalize medicinal and recreational marijuana, more people are using the substance. In fact, a new report from Quest Diagnostics found that more people are testing positive for marijuana in workplace drug tests, with 2017 being the fifth year in a row for increased marijuana detection in urine drug tests. In 2017, 2.6% of the general workforce tested positive for marijuana use.

Quest Diagnostics, Secaucus, a provider of diagnostic information services, announced that it has completed the sale of its India medical diagnostic service business to Strand Life Sciences, a Bangalore-based specialized diagnostics company. Terms of this transaction were not disclosed. Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Finance & Restructuring, India acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Quest Diagnostics.

One of the largest U.S. drug-testing laboratories has analyzed its millions of urine drug test results by industry for the first time, and found the two industries with the highest rate of positive test results for marijuana were also two that have to deal with consumers. Some 5.3 percent of tests given to retail trade workers, and 4.7 percent of those given to health care and social assistance workers came back positive, according to an analysis by Quest Diagnostics.

Apple's health records project onboarded 100-plus hospitals and clinics. Apple has also been collaborating with national clinical testing labs — such as LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics — to bring patients' diagnostic results directly into the iPhone Health app as part of the health records feature.

Drug use by the U.S. workforce increased each year -- and by double-digits over two years -- between 2015 and 2017, in five of 16 major U.S. industry sectors analyzed, according to a first-ever analysis of industry-specific data from more than ten million urine drug test results performed by Quest Diagnostics, the world's leading provider of diagnostic information services.
