Humana Inc. joined a potent group of health care companies to look into creating a massive database of information provider with blockchain technology. Louisville-based Humana has partnered with UnitedHealthcare and Optum - both subsidiaries of Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealth Group Inc.- as well as New York City-based health insurance service provider MultiPlan Inc. and Seaucus, NJ-based laboratory diagnostics firm Quest Diagnostics Inc. in the venture.

Humana, MultiPlan, Quest Diagnostics, Optum and UnitedHealthcare will partner on a pilot program to give New Jersey consumers better access to data on health care providers.
