As more states legalize medicinal and recreational marijuana, more people are using the substance. In fact, a new report from Quest Diagnostics found that more people are testing positive for marijuana in workplace drug tests, with 2017 being the fifth year in a row for increased marijuana detection in urine drug tests. In 2017, 2.6% of the general workforce tested positive for marijuana use.

Quest Diagnostics, Secaucus, a provider of diagnostic information services, announced that it has completed the sale of its India medical diagnostic service business to Strand Life Sciences, a Bangalore-based specialized diagnostics company. Terms of this transaction were not disclosed. Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Finance & Restructuring, India acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Quest Diagnostics.

One of the largest U.S. drug-testing laboratories has analyzed its millions of urine drug test results by industry for the first time, and found the two industries with the highest rate of positive test results for marijuana were also two that have to deal with consumers. Some 5.3 percent of tests given to retail trade workers, and 4.7 percent of those given to health care and social assistance workers came back positive, according to an analysis by Quest Diagnostics.

Even people who are being drug tested for the DEA are not tested for CBD; in fact, federal employees can only be drug tested for certain predetermined compounds, and CBD isn’t one of them.

Aetna, a CVS Health business, and Ascension have joined the pilot project applying blockchain technology to improve data quality and reduce administrative costs associated with changes to health care provider demographic data. Humana, MultiPlan, Quest Diagnostics and UnitedHealth Groups Optum and UnitedHealthcare announced the launch of the Synaptic Health Alliance pilot project in April.
